Location: Dr Ashok's Ayurveda Clinic, Birmingham
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Saturday (6 Days per Week)
Salary: £13-£14 per hour

Job Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic, including phlebotomy services, reception management, patient bookings, stock control, administrative duties, and client communications.
You must be comfortable working independently and managing the clinic efficiently while maintaining exceptional patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Perform venepuncture and capillary blood collection from adults and adolescents aged 16+ years with accuracy and care
- Ensure patients are treated with care, dignity, professionalism, and compassion at all times.
- Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Accurately label, store, and manage biological samples according to laboratory requirements.
- Maintain phlebotomy equipment and ensure all clinical supplies are adequately stocked.
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance duties in accordance with infection control standards.
- Safely dispose of clinical waste and sharps in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper labelling and handling
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilisation of all equipment and work areas in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have
- Record patient information accurately using IT systems, ensuring confidentiality at all times
- Assist in the organisation of appointments and manage patient flow efficiently
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient service delivery
- Keep up-to-date with current procedures, safety protocols, and best practices in phlebotomy
- Reception & Administration Duties
- Manage all clinic bookings and appointment scheduling.
- Answer enquiry calls and provide excellent customer service.
- Process card payments and maintain accurate payment records.
- Communicate blood test and clinic-related information to clients professionally.
- Complete administrative tasks and data entry accurately.
- Support patient coordination and ensure smooth clinic workflow.
- Manage clinic reception and provide a welcoming experience for all patients.
Clinic Operations Duties
- Independently manage daily clinic operations.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels and place orders when required.
- Take ownership of clinic organisation and efficiency.
- Identify areas for service improvement and contribute to continuous quality enhancement.
- Work closely with management to ensure high operational standards.
- Undertake any additional duties reasonably required to support clinic operations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Clinical Requirements
- Minimum 12 months full-time UK phlebotomy experience following training/certification.
- Valid Phlebotomy Certificate.
- Up-to-date vaccinations including Hepatitis B.
- Enhanced DBS Check dated within the last 2 years.
Skills & Experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong telephone manner and customer service skills.
- Good English literacy and written communication skills.
- Strong IT skills including appointment booking systems, payment processing, Microsoft Office, and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and confidently manage a clinic solo.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, speed, and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Comfortable working in a busy and fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

- Proficiency in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu is required
- IT skills for managing electronic health records and data entry tasks
- Previous experience in phlebotomy or a related healthcare role is essential
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in specimen handling and documentation
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a caring attitude towards patients
- A recognised qualification in phlebotomy or healthcare is preferred but not mandatory
