We work with diverse communities, including care-experienced young people, young parents, individuals recovering from substance use, those with SEND, families, and individuals at risk of offending or social exclusion.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and engaging Programme Facilitator to join our team in Birmingham.
This freelance role will involve delivering, and evaluating interactive group programmes for young people aged 18–24, including care-experienced young adults and individuals recovering from substance use.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgramme Planning and Delivery
- Design, implement, deliver, and evaluate engaging workshops and group programmes tailored to the needs of participants.
- Deliver sessions focused on personal development, wellbeing, emotional resilience, recovery, life skills, employability, confidence building, leadership, and goal setting.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment where participants can explore their values, identities, strengths, and aspirations.
- Encourage the development of positive peer relationships and social connections amongst programme participants.
- Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including young parents, care-experienced young people, individuals with SEND, those at risk of offending, individuals in substance misuse recovery, and families.
- Monitor participant engagement and progress through weekly record keeping, feedback forms, attendance records, photographs, and case studies.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and professional records in line with organisational policies and data protection requirements.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow organisational safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold the highest standards of conduct and confidentiality.
- Attend supervision, team meetings, training, and continuous professional development opportunities as required.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience facilitating workshops, group programmes, youth work activities, training sessions, or community engagement programmes.
- Experience working with young people and adults facing social, emotional, educational, or behavioural challenges.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by care-experienced young people, individuals recovering from substance use, and other vulnerable groups.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and group facilitation skills.
- Experience monitoring outcomes and maintaining accurate records.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Qualification in Youth Work, Community Development, Education, Social Care, Coaching, Mentoring, Health & Wellbeing, or a related field.
- Experience delivering recovery, wellbeing, employability, life skills, mentoring, or personal development programmes.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and restorative approaches.
- Experience working within community, voluntary, education, or third-sector settings.
Additional Information
This is a freelance position. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own tax and National Insurance obligations and making any necessary declarations to HMRC.
