Job Introduction

About the Role

Our service is continuing to grow as we further embed Family Group Decision Making at the heart of our practice with families and increase our Family Group Conference offer for families.

The Family Group Conferencing team offer Family Group Conferences to families to support them and build family networks. The FGC Coordinators are responsible for delivering high quality Family Group Conferences to enable families to make plans to keep children safe. They will offer support, training and advise partner professionals to support them to fully be involved in the Family Group Conferencing Process and embed the child’s plan in all other children social care plans.

Our approach is rooted in restorative and relational practice, fostering trust, mutual respect, and meaningful relationships with children, families, and professionals.

You’ll also:

Be responsible for the planning, coordination, facilitation and review of Family Group Conferences and reviews in Bradford in a way that responds appropriately to the needs of individual families from a diverse of backgrounds.
Complete discussions in line with our entitlement for Family Group Conferencing and maintain appropriate records that will be shared with families and partner professionals.
Exercise a high degree of independence to initiate and expertise in to coordinate Family Group Conferences and be responsible for preparing families and professionals to come together to develop and agree safe plans for children.
Convene Family Group Conferences that empower families and ensure that they can be fully involved in safe decision making and planning for their children
Ensure the Family Group Conferencing model adheres to the Bradford Children’s and Families Trust model of delivery.
Undertake all administrative duties associated with a Family Group Conference and review, including facilitating the Family Group Conference, agreeing, writing up and circulating the family plan in line with Bradford Children and Families Trust Family Group Conferencing policies.
Build effective professional relationships with Children’s Social Care to embed a high-quality Family Group Conferencing services across the district.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Up to date continuous & recent experience working directly with children, and parents as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan and support change in families.
Experience of convening Family Group Conferencing’s and/or chairing meetings that involve families, children and young people.
To have completed Family Group Conference facilitator training through an accredited organisation (Desirable)
A relevant Level 3 professional qualification related to working with children, young people and parents and evidence of on-going training and CDP
Able to apply anti discriminatory practice and approaches in their day-to-day interactions with colleagues, children and their families in order to challenge bias, prejudice and intolerance.
Able to work independently and to manage own workload and work in an unsupported environment such as with children/young people and their families in their own home – Able to carry out multiple activities and prioritise effort while maintaining a focus on the service user and their families.
Effective communication and engagement with children, young people and their families
Building trust and establishing relationships
Listening, building empathy and using clear language appropriate to age, ability, culture and personality
Summarising, explaining options, consulting and involving children, young people and their families and partner professionals in decisions and courses of action.
Able to assimilate and apply complex and detailed information and relay it to service users and other professionals
