Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Care Assistant to join our veterinary practice. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support veterinary professionals in providing high-quality care to animals. The position involves assisting with animal handling, laboratory procedures, and maintaining a clean and organised environment. Candidates should have a passion for animal welfare and be eager to develop their skills within a supportive team. This is a paid position suitable for individuals interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine or animal care.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses during consultations, examinations, and procedures
Handle animals with care and compassion, ensuring their safety and comfort
Prepare and sterilise equipment and surgical instruments in accordance with hygiene standards
Support laboratory work, including sample collection, processing, and basic analysis
Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and other relevant documentation
Clean and disinfect kennels, treatment areas, and other clinical spaces regularly
Monitor animals post-procedure or surgery under supervision
Restock supplies and ensure the clinic remains organised and well-maintained

Qualifications

Previous experience working in a veterinary practice or laboratory environment is essential; training will be provided
Genuine interest in animal welfare and healthcare
Ability to handle animals gently and confidently across different species
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a busy clinical setting
