Overview

Phillips Tyres Shepton Mallet Ltd are looking for a tyre fitter / vehicle technician to work in our family business.

We have over 50 years+ experience and specialise in tyres, as well as servicing & repairs. We have an MOT station and perform class 4 & 7.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Workshop Manager to oversee daily operations within our workshop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining high standards of customer service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong organisational skills, mechanical knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. The Workshop Manager will play a key role in driving business growth through effective upselling and maintaining excellent customer relationships.

Duties

Supervise and coordinate workshop activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations
Lead, motivate, and support workshop staff to achieve performance targets and maintain high standards
Oversee the scheduling of repairs and maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion
Provide excellent customer service by addressing client queries, explaining services, and managing expectations
Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain proper records of sales and payments
Identify opportunities for upselling additional services or products to maximise revenue
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop environment
Maintain organised records of work carried out, parts used, and customer interactions
Monitor stock levels and placing orders as necessary to prevent shortages

Qualifications

Proven experience in workshop or garage management or a similar supervisory role
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical issues effectively
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
Experience in upselling services or products to customers effectively
Competent in cash handling procedures with attention to accuracy in financial transactions
Organised with strong leadership abilities to manage a team efficiently
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and safety
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Relevant qualifications or certifications in automotive or mechanical fields are desirable but not essential

You will be required to work 8:30am to 5:30pm, and every other weekend 8:30 t0 1:30pm. In return we offer a competitive salary and staff discount.

Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
