Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join our apprenticeship programme and help make a real difference in our community.

We know that college or university isn’t for everyone. That’s why an apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification, earn a wage, and get hands-on experience—all without the debt that comes with full-time study. Our apprentice salary is competitive

As an apprentice, you will:

✅ Spend one day a week learning with your training provider

By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have at least two years of experience—and we have a fantastic track record of offering permanent jobs to apprentices who want to stay with us!

In your second year, we’ll move you onto the minimum wage band that matches your age, with the rate for ages 18 and over as the baseline

APPRENTICE – GOVERNANCE OFFICER (Level 3)

This is an exciting opportunity to join our small and friendly Programme & Governance Team, who are at the heart of a forward thinking, ambitious Children’s Services & Education department. We offer a supportive environment with opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in governance.

In the role you will be supporting the following functions within children’s services & education: governance, planning, reporting, quality assurance, inspection and peer review preparation.

We are looking for someone who has good communication skills, is organised, can work as a team or independently and is eager to learn in a corporate environment.
