About United Worldwide Logistics

Founded in 1994, United Worldwide Logistics has grown from a three-person operation into a multi-site logistics group trusted with over 300,000 consignments a year — without losing the family culture that made us different. Headquartered at Pencoed, South Wales, with depots in Birmingham and Manchester and operations in Spain, we're an independent, multi-modal logistics provider covering European and worldwide road, air, sea and rail freight, UK distribution, warehousing and full customs support. We've twice won the BIFA Extra Mile Award, and we win work the same way we always have: by doing the basics brilliantly and looking after our customers.

UWL North is our Manchester depot in Eccles — a small, busy operation where the majority of the work is European road freight: groupage, part and full loads in and out of the Continent, alongside UK distribution.

The Role

We're looking for a Branch Manager to take ownership of the Eccles depot. This is a genuine all-rounder role in a small team — you'll run the operation day to day, stay close to customers, and get stuck in wherever the depot needs you.

Day to day you'll be:

Running the daily European road freight operation — bookings, hauliers, quotes, problem-solving
Managing and supporting the depot team
Looking after existing customers and helping grow the branch
Working with our Pencoed head office on pricing, invoicing and compliance
Keeping the depot running safely, efficiently and profitably

Who We're Looking For

We care more about attitude than a perfect CV. The right person works hard, mucks in, and wants to learn and develop — and we'll back you with training and support from across the group.

We'd like to see:

Freight forwarding experience, ideally European road freight (preferred)
Some experience managing a depot, branch or team (preferred but not essential)
A genuine willingness to get stuck in — this is not a sit-behind-a-desk role
Good commercial instincts and a customer-first approach
Comfortable with transport and freight systems, or quick to pick them up

If you're an experienced forwarder ready for your first management role, or an operations person who knows European road freight inside out, we want to hear from you.
