Job Title: Assistant Greenkeeper

Reporting to: Head Greenkeeper

Boston Golf Club are seeking an experienced greenkeeper to join our small, committed, hardworking team.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic individual, able to work successfully alongside our Greenkeeping Team and Head Greenkeeper.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø To assist ensuring the golf course is properly laid out and prepared for Members and guests to the Club, maintained and presented to an extremely high standard.

Ø To work effectively with all members of the Greenkeeping Team (including volunteers).

Ø To assist with turf maintenance including mowing, irrigation and control of pests and diseases on the greens and other playing surfaces as directed by the Head Greenkeeper.

Ø To assist with the maintenance of bunkers, course furniture and all peripheral areas.

Ø In conjunction with the Head Greenkeeper, to gain an excellent working knowledge of all machinery used for specific tasks, ensuring you are only using the machinery you have been properly trained on, in the correct manner and to comply with Health and Safety regulations whilst in operation.

Ø Check and prepare machinery ready for safe operation prior to use.

Ø Always clean machinery after use.

Ø To be conversant with modern greenkeeping practices and, if required, to attend training courses which may be identified as being beneficial or necessary for the performance of the position.

Ø To comply with any reasonable instructions issued by your manager.

Ø To promote good environmental practices at all times.

Changes in the business may occasionally require alterations to this job description, and these will be agreed with the successful candidate as appropriate.

The above is not exhaustive but intended to offer a guide to the main responsibilities and duties of the role. It is expected that all Boston Golf Club employees will undertake duties outside the scope of the above as required.

The role is a full-time one requiring early morning starts and weekend working on a rota basis.
