We are looking for a highly organised and experienced Despatch Manager to join our Logistics - Supply Chain team at JDM Food Group.
This is a site based role at our Bicker facility, reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, working full time (40 hours per week) from Monday to Friday 7.00am - 4.00pm (with flexibility depending on business requirements).
Working across the Logistics function, you will oversee, coordinate and manage the daily operation whilst showing strong leadership skills and commitment to optimising warehouse processes. This role requires strategic thinking and exceptional organisational skills to drive operational efficiency, team management experience and a drive to ensure the successful achievement of departmental goals. This is very much a hands on role, driven by involvement in efficient inventory management, ensuring smooth logistics, and supervising a team to achieve operational excellence, rather than being desk based.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee a team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members to maximize their potential and performance.
- Accountable for all site environmental activities and collections and ensuring it is all done in line with regulations.
- Coordinate and prioritize team tasks and projects, ensuring timely and successful completion within set deadlines and quality standards.
- Liaise with other Section managers where required to ensure staffing requirement needs are met.
- Be instrumental in ensuring cross department collaboration is promoted and supported.
- Identify areas for process enhancement, efficiency improvements, and implement best practices to optimize team workflows.
- Champion and ensure company Health and Safety, Food Safety and GMP policies & standards set, are followed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements within your area.
- Management of company Fleet of Lorries, Vans, company cars and MHE equipment – including but not limited to servicing, MOT, driver hours etc. of all company vehicles.
- Management of all site deliveries and collections in the respective areas including environmental disposal in line with Regulatory expectations of the relevant Authority bodies and companies.
- Supporting the Logistics Manager to deliver effective decision making by providing relevant data, information and support when requested.

- Proven managerial and leadership experience within Logistics/Supply Chain function.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with cross functional teams.
- Be able to self-manage time effectively and work under own initiative.
- Show a helpful, open and respectful attitude in all aspects of your position.
- Keen focus on team development with the ability to build and maintain positive team relationships.
- A creative approach to problem solving with skills to implement new ideas.
- Ability to communicate in written and verbal English.
- Good understanding of food safety, quality, and manufacturing processes
Skills Required
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles, including procurement, inventory management, transportation, and distribution.
- Proven experience within a leadership role, demonstrating the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams to achieve goals.
- Able to demonstrate strategic planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions and drive initiatives towards success.
- Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities through adaptability and navigate changing priorities and environments to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas, delegate tasks, and provide constructive feedback in addition to being able to interact with team members, upper management, and stakeholders.
- Understanding of cost management, and financial implications within logistics operations to optimize spending and improve business growth.
- Strong IT Skill – Specifically in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous Experience in working with SAP or a WMS is advantageous.
- The ability to communicate in Written and Verbal English
- Forklift licences and experience

Pay: £37,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
