Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team.

15 fine years of fire, flavour, creativity and relentless hard work.

The Larder House has never been about one person alone. It’s been built by an incredible line of talented chefs who have brought passion, energy and imagination into our kitchen year after year. These photos represent just some of the brilliant people who have helped shape what The Larder House is today.

From day one, our focus has been simple… exceptional ingredients, carefully sourced, inspired by great cuisines from around the world, all brought together through wood fire cookery.

Everything we do revolves around the flames, from our wood oven to our charcoal grill. Driving creative food with soul, depth and honesty.

Now, after 15 amazing years, we’re ready for the next chapter.

We’re looking for a Head Chef with vision, creativity and leadership to help drive The Larder House forward.

Someone who loves bold cooking, respects ingredients, thrives in a busy independent restaurant and wants to build something special with us.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences through wood fired cookery. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, safety standards, and team management are maintained at the highest level. The Head Chef will play a vital role in shaping the menu, supervising food production, and fostering a positive working environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient and smooth daily operations
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain high standards of quality and presentation
Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, considering current trends and customer preferences
Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
Train and mentor staff to enhance their culinary skills and service delivery
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods
Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment at all times
Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with recipes and quality standards

Skills

Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food production and preparation
Excellent team management abilities, capable of motivating staff and fostering teamwork
Proficient in cooking techniques across various cuisines and styles
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
Leadership qualities with the ability to organise, delegate, and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously
Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with staff and management
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
