Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic hospitality team. This vital role involves supporting the kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring a smooth workflow within a busy restaurant or hotel environment. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and contribute to a high standard of service. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to develop their skills within the culinary and hospitality sectors.

Duties

Responsible for cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to maintain hygiene standards.
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including washing vegetables, peeling, and organising ingredients.
Supporting chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks to ensure efficient kitchen operations during service periods.
Collecting and disposing of waste appropriately to uphold cleanliness throughout the premises.
Restocking supplies and ensuring that all necessary ingredients and tools are readily available for chefs.
Assisting with the organisation of storage areas, including fridges and dry stores, to ensure items are stored correctly.
Adhering to health and safety regulations at all times, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Supporting serving staff during busy periods by helping with basic customer service tasks if required.

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality environments such as restaurants, hotels, or catering services is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of kitchen safety procedures and hygiene standards is advantageous.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
A positive attitude with strong teamwork skills and willingness to learn new skills.
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
