Description

The Lodge is looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant to join the team. This is a part-time role working 20 hours per week.

The Lodge is located in Highbridge, Somerset. The home offers residential support for 12 males and females who are autistic or have mental health needs. We are on a busy street, very close to the town centre, local amenities and public transport links.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service and to support the wellbeing of our residents. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

You will also;

Ensure the home is maintained as a safe and secure place to live for the residents
Maintain the home and grounds to ensure they are in excellent condition at all times
Work closely with the home managers on long-term maintenance plans
Check and repair fixtures and fittings that may include lighting and heating

The safety and security of our residents is at the forefront of what we do, so ensuring the home is safe and properly maintained is of utmost importance. We are looking for someone passionate about their work, with a friendly and outgoing nature, and who genuinely wants to make a difference in the lives of our residents.

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

We’re seeking an individual with experience in general maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical work, and minor repairs. You should have a good understanding of health and safety, be able to prioritise tasks, and work both independently and as part of a team. A friendly, proactive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of our residents are essential.
