Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Prep Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food preparation and eager to develop their skills in a dynamic kitchen environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting, contributing to the creation of high-quality dishes for our customers. The Prep Chef will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen by preparing ingredients, assisting with meal assembly, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.

Duties

Assist in the preparation of ingredients for daily menu items, including chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning.
Support the cooking team by preparing components of dishes according to specified recipes and standards.
Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to at all times.
Organise and maintain a clean, organised work station, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils.
Assist with inventory checks and stock rotation to minimise waste and ensure freshness.
Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of prepared food items.
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe working environment.
Contribute to a positive team atmosphere by communicating effectively and supporting colleagues as needed.

Experience

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety standards is advantageous.
Experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is desirable.
Familiarity with meal preparation processes and serving procedures is beneficial.
