Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in food preparation and cooking, with a keen eye for food safety and hygiene standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment, working alongside experienced chefs to deliver exceptional dining experiences. The position is fully paid and suitable for individuals eager to advance their career in the culinary arts.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in food production, ensuring quality and presentation meet company specifications
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety regulations
Supervise junior kitchen staff as required, providing guidance and support in food preparation tasks
Manage stock levels, assist with inventory checks, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
Contribute to menu planning and development by offering creative ideas and feedback
Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained in good working order
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery during busy periods

Qualifications

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Demonstrable skills in food preparation, cooking, and presentation
Previous supervising or team management experience is desirable but not essential
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
Formal culinary training or relevant qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory
Passion for culinary arts with a desire to learn and grow within the industry
