The Role
We are seeking an experienced and talented individual to support our R+D Department (mechanical) with prototype machining, jig making, and hand fitting of parts for products.
As our R+D Production Support Engineer, you will:
- Support the Production Managers on a day-to-day basis regarding any production issues resulting in timely and cost-effective solutions to maintain product quality and production levels.
- Firefight production issues within Instrumentation and Sensors.
- Create and modify parts for instruments eg probe over moulds following mould change.
- Create jigs and fixtures, hand tools, and equipment for production to aid efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the production areas with tooling, setting jigs on pillar drills, fixtures, etc.
- Work with QA to ensure products conform to standards and liaise with them in relation to any moulding issues and manufacturing problems.
The Person
The ideal candidate must have proven experience of working in an engineering environment, using machines such as Milling, Lathe, Pillar Drill and Grinders.
We’re looking for someone who has practical knowledge and skills in plastic injection moulding processes and experience of tool making, moulding, and metal pressing. In addition to this, the successful candidate must be a strong communicator, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, along with effective time management skills.

The Person
To be successful in this role, candidates must have:-
- Previous manufacturing experience
- Good soldering skills
- An understanding of electronics and electronic fault finding
- Methodical approach to problem solving
- Good housekeeping standards
- Good verbal and written communication skills
