Management Accountant (Contract/self-employed) – Job Description

Job Type: Office based - 3 days per week with scope for growth.

Homes by Harlequin design and build high-quality new homes for families throughout Greater London and the Home Counties. Importantly, we blend aspirational design with creative use of space so that our premium homes meet the demands of eco-conscious homeowners.

The Business has been growing rapidly and is now seeking a highly motivated Management Accountant who can work well on their own or as part of a team, to carry out tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Good communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders are highly important and the ability to convey information to people that may lack understanding equally so.

The role will be based at our central Marlow office, a short walking distance from shops and cafes in the High Street.

The construction industry is a fast paced and can be demanding at times, but the rewards and job satisfaction are in abundance! The business is growing very quickly and there is an opportunity for the candidate to slot in and grow both professionally and personally in line with the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Below is a list of the type of tasks and responsibilities that the role will entail:

· Day to day management of the finance function including accurate maintenance of client and office accounts.

· Monitoring internal controls and accounting systems and procedures.

· Analysing complex financial information and reports to provide accurate financial recommendations to the partners.

· Preparing of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements to tight deadlines.

· Preparation of Cashflow forecasting.

· Coordinating preparation and presentation of group budgets and forecasts including subsidiaries.

· Preparation of Statutory Accounts and audit information.

· Carry out CIS returns

· Various ad hoc financial and operational project to contribute to the ongoing success of the partnership.

· Experience using Eque2 and Sage 50 desirable but not essential.

· Processing of Sub-Contractor payment applications and accounting for Retention.

Candidate profile:

· Ability to develop and sustain relationships with suppliers.

· Capable and confident written English skills.

· Confident and effective telephone skills when taking calls as required.

· Good numeracy skills.

· Confident use of Microsoft Excel including using VLOOKUP’s and other formulas.

· Ability to work under pressure and without supervision

· Ability to liaise with colleagues when appropriate

· Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to

· Experience working within Accounts in the Construction Industry/New homes building industry.

· Knowledge of the construction industry, CIS scheme and VAT (including Domestic Reverse Charge).

· Desirable qualifications: AAT/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent. QBE also considered.
