Summary

In details, the position encompasses duties and responsibilities as follows:

We are seeking an indirect Tax Assistant to join our tax team. Reporting to the Head of Tax for energy trading you will work on preparing international VAT returns and reconciliations, ensuring compliance is adhered to and deadlines are met.

The ideal candidate disposes of:

Work closely with the Indirect Tax Supervisor to prepare various international VAT returns and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.

Investigate, monitor, and explain variances or fluctuations, taking a proactive and problem-solving approach to identifying root causes and implementing solutions.

Collaborate with internal teams to gather, verify, and document information required for VAT reporting and compliance obligations.

Support the identification and streamlining of existing reporting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall service delivery.

Demonstrate initiative in managing responsibilities, resolving issues independently where appropriate, and escalating risks or concerns in a timely manner.

Contribute positively to the wider Tax Team by supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining high professional standards.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.

Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

A proactive, solution-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Self-motivated and able to work independently, taking ownership of tasks and delivering outcomes with minimal supervision.

Flexible and responsive approach with a commitment to supporting the needs of the business.

Ability to accurately input, analyse, and retrieve data, while identifying opportunities to improve and streamline processes.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, with confidence using spreadsheets and handling large volumes of data.

Demonstrated willingness to learn, develop technical knowledge, and take on new challenges.
