Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Junior Sous - Production to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop leadership skills within a fast-paced food production environment. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety, and supporting the senior management team. A background in food preparation, kitchen experience, and hospitality is essential, along with supervisory capabilities. This position is integral to maintaining efficient production workflows and delivering exceptional culinary experiences.

The role has fixed hours of Monday - Friday - 6am - 3pm. Occasional bank holidays or Saturdays may be required with time given back.

Responsibilities

Assist in supervising daily food production activities, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards
Support the management of kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and a positive working environment
Oversee food preparation processes, including cooking and plating, to ensure consistency and presentation excellence
Maintain strict compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Coordinate with the senior team to plan menus and manage inventory levels effectively
Monitor kitchen operations during shifts, troubleshooting any issues that arise promptly
Contribute to training new team members on food safety procedures and operational protocols
Assist in ensuring all kitchen equipment is maintained properly and report any faults or repairs needed

Requirements

Proven experience in food production, culinary roles, or restaurant environments
Demonstrable supervising experience within a kitchen or food service setting
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen organisation
Experience in hospitality or serving roles is desirable but not essential
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
A proactive attitude with excellent communication skills and a passion for culinary excellence

£36-40k salary depending on experience
