IPQA Officer (In-Process Quality Assurance)

Location: Weedon Bec, Northampton (NN7)
Reporting to: QA Manager
Shift Pattern: Rotating 3-shift pattern (24/7 operation), working 5 days out of 7

Our MHRA and FDA-approved manufacturing facility produces high-quality pharmaceutical products to the highest standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), quality, compliance and patient safety.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented IPQA Officer to join our Quality Assurance team.

About the Role

Reporting to the QA Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that manufacturing and packaging activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.

You will provide in-process quality assurance support across manufacturing operations, carrying out line clearance, in-process checks, documentation review and real-time quality oversight to ensure products are manufactured in compliance with approved procedures.

The role supports our 24/7 manufacturing operation and operates on a rotating three-shift pattern, working 5 days out of every 7 days.

Key Responsibilities

Perform line clearance activities before the commencement of manufacturing and packaging operations.
Carry out routine in-process quality checks during manufacturing and packaging.
Verify batch documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
Ensure manufacturing activities comply with approved SOPs, GMP and regulatory requirements.
Monitor production processes and provide real-time quality support to manufacturing teams.
Identify, document and escalate deviations, quality concerns and non-conformances.
Support investigations, CAPAs and change controls where required.
Ensure environmental, housekeeping and GMP standards are maintained throughout production areas.
Support internal, customer and regulatory inspections and audits.
Work closely with Production, QC, Warehouse, Engineering and Validation teams to maintain compliance and continuous improvement.
Participate in training and quality improvement initiatives.

About YouEssential

Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a Life Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Previous experience within Quality Assurance, IPQA or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound quality-based decisions.
Flexible to work a 24/7 rotating three-shift pattern, working 5 days out of every 7 days.

Desirable

Previous experience within an MHRA/FDA regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of oral solid dosage (OSD) or oral liquid manufacturing processes.
Experience with deviations, CAPAs, change controls and risk assessments.
Experience using electronic quality systems or ERP systems such as SAP.

Shift Pattern

Supporting our 24/7 manufacturing operation:

Morning: 5:45 am – 2:15 pm
Afternoon: 1:45 pm – 10:15 pm
Night: 9:45 pm – 6:15 am

Working 5 shifts out of every 7 days, including weekends as part of the rota.

Working Environment

Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
Production and packaging areas operating under GMP conditions.
Regular interaction with cross-functional teams.
Full PPE must be worn in designated manufacturing areas.
