Full job description

AJW Distribution Ltd is an independently owned, family-run business supplying roofing, cladding and general building materials to contractors, builders, building merchants and the general public across East Anglia.

We are looking for an experienced Yard Foreman/Women to join our busy Norwich depot.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being organised, takes pride in maintaining a safe and efficient yard, and is confident leading a small team. Experience within the roofing or building materials industry would be an advantage, but it is not essential as full training will be provided.

What will I be doing?

Taking responsibility for the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the yard.
Supervising yard and FLT operations, ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed.
Managing the picking, loading and preparation of customer orders and deliveries.
Checking incoming deliveries, stock levels and ensuring materials are stored correctly.
Maintaining a clean, tidy and well-organised yard.
Providing a professional and helpful service to customers and suppliers.
Supporting and leading the yard team, raising any issues with the Branch Manager.
Ensuring all relevant paperwork, stock records and company procedures are completed correctly.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will:

Have experience working in a busy yard, warehouse or merchant environment.
Ideally have knowledge of roofing or building materials.
Be organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure.
Have good communication skills and the ability to lead by example.
Have a strong understanding of Health & Safety.
Be computer literate and willing to learn new systems and procedures.
Take pride in providing excellent customer service.
