Administrative Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Part-Time, Fixed-Term basis from 1st September 2026 – 23rd July 2027

30 Hours per Week, Monday-Friday, 9am-3.30pm

Term-Time Only Plus 5 INSET Days (45.05 paid weeks per annum)

Salary: Grade 4, SCP 6-7 - £25,989 - £26,403 per annum pro rata (pay award pending)

Actual salary: £18,205.72 - £18,495.73 per annum (pay award pending)

Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and organised Administrative Assistant to provide essential support during a maternity cover period. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining smooth office operations, managing correspondence, and assisting with various administrative tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your office experience and develop your organisational skills within a professional environment.

Duties

Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence via email, post, and phone calls with professional phone etiquette
Organising and maintaining pupil files, records, and documentation in both physical and digital formats
Data entry and updating information accurately using Microsoft Office, Excel and Bromcom MIS
Scheduling appointments, meetings, and managing calendars efficiently
Supporting team members with administrative tasks to ensure operational efficiency
Handling general clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, and ordering office supplies
Managing school trips and chasing payments from parents
Managing daily attendance and registers

Experience

Proven office experience or administrative experience in a professional setting
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with Bromcom or other MIS systems is desirable
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good typing speed and data entry accuracy
Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally via phone and email
Experience with clerical tasks such as filing, record keeping, and document management
Experience within an education environment is desirable but not essential

This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently while supporting the wider team. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, efficient, and eager to contribute to a positive office environment during the maternity cover period.
