Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant (Nights) to join our reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, experience in senior care, and a genuine desire to support residents during overnight hours. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals, ensuring they receive high-quality care and support throughout the night. The position is fully paid and requires a commitment to providing exceptional care in a safe and respectful environment.

Duties

Provide personalised care to residents during night shifts, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being
Supervise and support junior care staff, offering guidance and leadership during overnight hours
Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, and mobility needs
Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, recognising any changes or concerns and reporting them appropriately
Implement and review individualised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals
Administer medication as prescribed, adhering to all safety protocols and documentation requirements
Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and resident observations
Respond promptly to emergencies or urgent situations with calmness and professionalism
Ensure the environment remains clean, safe, and conducive to restful sleep for residents
To dispense medication during the night shift, take responsibility for the smooth running of your unit, and ensure care plans and risk assessments are completed and updated accordingly.

Requirements

Previous experience working within a care home or senior care setting is essential
Supervising experience or leadership skills are highly desirable
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
Knowledge of care plans and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
IT literacy for maintaining electronic records and documentation
Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in supporting elderly individuals’ needs during night hours
Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player
Flexibility to work night shifts on a rota basis in accordance with organisational requirements
