Job Title: Part-Time Youth Worker
Organisation: The Rock Youth Project
Reports To: CEO
Hours: Part-Time (as agreed)
Location: Community-based, outreach locations, and youth session venues
Purpose of the Role
To develop, support, and deliver high-quality youth work provision for young people through regular youth sessions, outreach activities, and detached youth work. The post holder will build positive relationships with young people, promote their wellbeing and personal development, and contribute to creating safe and inclusive environments where young people can thrive.
Key ResponsibilitiesYouth Work Delivery
- Contribute in planning, organising and delivering engaging youth sessions for young people.
- Build positive and supportive relationships with young people.
- Encourage participation, personal development, confidence, and social inclusion.
- Support young people in identifying and achieving personal goals.
Outreach and Detached Youth Work
- Develop and deliver outreach programmes within local communities.
- Undertake detached youth work in areas where young people gather.
- Engage with young people who may not access traditional youth provision.
- Identify emerging needs and respond appropriately through youth work interventions.
- Promote available support services and signpost young people to relevant agencies where appropriate.
Safeguarding and Welfare
- Maintain the safety and wellbeing of all young people.
- Adhere to organisational safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Recognise, record, and report safeguarding concerns in line with safeguarding protocols.
- Hold or be willing to obtain Safeguarding Children Level 2 training.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of youth work.
Partnership and Community Engagement
- Work collaboratively with schools, community groups, local agencies, and partner organisations.
- Represent The Rock Youth Project professionally within the community.
- Contribute to the development of new youth engagement opportunities.
Administration and Monitoring
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and outcomes.
- Complete required reports and monitoring documentation.
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and training as required.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Experience working with young people in a youth work, education, community, or related setting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and engage hard-to-reach young people.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with children and young people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends.
- Enhanced DBS check (required).
Desirable
- Youth Work qualification or relevant training.
- Safeguarding Children Level 2 qualification.
- Experience of outreach or detached youth work.
- Knowledge of local youth issues and community resources.
- First Aid qualification.
