Full job description

PCV Technician / Mechanic

The Travellers Choice Coaches is a leading coach operator based in Carnforth, Lancashire. Established in 1872, we have built an outstanding reputation for quality, reliability, and customer service. As a Coach Marque accredited operator, we pride ourselves on maintaining a modern fleet of over 100 immaculate coaches and midi-coaches.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated PCV / HGV Technician / Mechanic to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will share our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of vehicle safety, presentation, and reliability.

Working Hours

Shift pattern:

3 late shifts: 09:00 – 19:30
3 early shifts: 06:00 – 16:30
3 days off

Key Responsibilities

Carry out preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs)
Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and present vehicles for inspection
Complete servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs to a high standard
Attend vehicle breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when required
Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical faults
Complete all relevant maintenance records and paperwork accurately
Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently in line with company standards

Essential Requirements

Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent)
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in heavy vehicle maintenance
Ability to undertake all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repairs to a high standard
Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
Full, valid UK driving licence (Category B)
General computer literacy skills

Desirable Skills & Experience

Category D PCV licence (full training available for the successful candidate)
Experience using digital fleet management systems
Experience with VCADS, GEL test, or similar diagnostic software
Previous experience working with coaches, buses, or commercial vehicles
