Job Overview

Full Time & Part Time
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and have a keen interest in food and beverage operations. This role involves supporting daily cafe functions, ensuring a welcoming environment, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a vibrant food service environment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and take their orders with professionalism and courtesy
Serve food and beverages accurately, ensuring presentation meets quality standards
Assist with food preparation tasks in accordance with food safety regulations
Maintain cleanliness of the cafe area, including tables, counters, and kitchen surfaces
Restock supplies and organise stock to ensure smooth daily operations
Handle cash register transactions accurately and efficiently
Support the team during busy periods by providing excellent customer service and teamwork
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers

Skills

Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is desirable but not essential
Barista experience or knowledge of coffee preparation is a plus
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
Strong communication skills with a friendly demeanour
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods
Organised with good attention to detail in food presentation and cleanliness
Willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and customer service
A proactive attitude with excellent teamwork abilities
