Full job description

M & M Electrical Services Ltd is an established and growing electrical and fire alarm contractor based in Eastbourne.

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional with a strong background within the electrical, fire alarm, fire & security or associated facilities management sector to help us develop the next stage of our business.

This is not simply a sales position.

We are looking for someone who understands how successful electrical and fire alarm contractors develop, price, sell and manage commercial maintenance contracts and who can bring that knowledge and experience into our business.

What We Are Looking to Achieve

We already have strong technical knowledge and experience in electrical installations, testing, fire alarms, emergency lighting and associated compliance work.

We now want to significantly expand our commercial and recurring maintenance business, targeting organisations such as:

Property and facilities management companies
Care homes and care groups
Hotels
Schools and education providers
Healthcare organisations
Commercial landlords
Housing providers
Developers
Industrial and commercial organisations
Multi-site businesses

We are particularly interested in developing long-term relationships and recurring maintenance contracts rather than relying solely on individual projects.

The Role

Depending on your experience, you would work directly with the company directors to help develop our commercial strategy and potentially take responsibility for areas including:

Developing commercial electrical and fire alarm maintenance packages.
Advising on annual and monthly contract pricing.
Developing reactive and planned maintenance pricing.
Structuring emergency call-out and out-of-hours services.
Developing appropriate response times and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Understanding how to price the commercial risk associated with guaranteed response contracts.
Developing labour rates, call-out rates, standby arrangements and contract exclusions.
Helping establish profitable pricing structures and margins.
Assisting with larger quotations and tenders.
Identifying suitable commercial opportunities.
Approaching prospective clients and decision-makers.
Helping us understand how to become an approved contractor for larger organisations.
Arranging and/or attending meetings with prospective clients.
Negotiating commercial agreements.
Helping secure recurring maintenance contracts.
Developing relationships with facilities managers, property managers and procurement teams.
Helping implement appropriate sales and commercial processes within the company.

Ultimately, we want someone who can help us understand how larger electrical/fire maintenance businesses operate commercially and help us build that capability within M & M Electrical Services.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal person will have significant previous experience working within the electrical, fire alarm, fire & security, M&E or facilities management sector.

You may currently or previously have worked as a:

Commercial Manager
Business Development Manager
Contracts Manager
Senior Electrical Estimator
Fire & Security Business Development Manager
M&E Business Development Manager
Sales Manager
Commercial Consultant
Operations / Contracts Director

We are particularly interested in candidates who have personally been involved in winning and pricing commercial maintenance contracts.

You should understand both the commercial and relationship-building sides of winning larger clients.

Flexible Opportunity

We recognise that the person with the right experience may not necessarily be looking for a conventional full-time position.

We are therefore open to discussing:

Full-time employment

Retained consultancy arrangements
Salary plus performance-related commission
Day rate plus commission
Other arrangements for the right individual

We are more interested in finding the right person with the right experience than fitting the opportunity into a predetermined employment structure.

For someone interested in a longer-term position, there is considerable scope to become an important part of the company as our commercial division grows.

Remuneration

Highly competitive and negotiable depending on experience and proposed working arrangement.

We are happy to discuss a strong basic salary or consultancy/day rate together with an attractive commission structure for new contracts successfully secured.

Location

M & M Electrical Services Ltd is based in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Candidates do not necessarily need to live locally. Hybrid working and flexible arrangements can be discussed depending on the role and experience.
