The Research Services Department plays a vital role in supporting the University’s world-leading research community. Working across all divisions, the department provides expert advice and comprehensive administrative support throughout the entire research lifecycle — from identifying funding opportunities and developing grant proposals to managing awards, contracts, and compliance. Research Services is one of the key Professional Services Departments supporting Oxford’s research, engagement, and innovation community. We strive to provide excellent professional support, be a trusted provider of strategic insight and internal and external influence working with University, divisional, and other research leaders across the University.
The Trusted Research team is a collaborative team within the Research Funding and Contracts team in Research Services. We manage casework and compliance, and establish policy and practice for the University in research security and wider international collaboration risk. The team recently won the HERSA Trusted Research Team of the Year award for 2026, alongside colleagues in the Nuffield Department of Medicine, for our collaborative approach both within the team and with academic departments.
As an integral member of the team, you will play a leading role in enabling the University’s vital international research collaborations in an increasingly dynamic environment.

About the Role
As an International Collaboration Manager you will be a senior member of the Trusted Research team, providing expert advice to researchers and departments and playing a key role in developing institutional policy and process.
You will work directly with researchers to identify risks related to the trusted research agenda; due diligence, export control, National Security and Investments Act. You will support researchers, advising them of appropriate actions and enabling their research activity; liaising with colleagues in professional services as appropriate.
You will develop and manage internal monitoring and compliance strategies, consulting with internal and external stakeholders, and raising awareness across the institution. You will engage proactively with research groups to ensure appropriate management of international collaboration risk.
You will represent the University in a variety of external networks and project groups such as the Higher Education Research Security Association. You will use your experience to provide strategic advice and briefings to senior members of the University and to prepare responses to national consultations.
About You
To be successful in this varied and interesting role, you will need to have significant experience in supporting international collaborations or compliance, with strong analytical skills and strategic thinking.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels. You will be able to make complex information accessible to non-experts.
You will be able to grasp complex and potentially large amounts of information, getting to the heart of an issue and developing pragmatic, well founded, advice.
You will feel comfortable working on your own and within a team.
Sponsorship and Right To Work
This role meets the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa. The University will meet the cost of the Skilled Worker visa and NHS surcharge for applicants that require a visa.
