Role Summary
To drive the advancement and efficiency of technologies required for the
business and improve the positive enabling impact of technology. A senior
technologist for the IT team and business, providing expertise and involved in
the day-to-day IT services.
Role Objectives
- Design, implement and deploy services to support the business needs.
- Support and improve existing business technologies.
- Mentor and support colleagues in the technology team.
- Manage requests from and support different departments, escalations from
other IS staff, troubleshooting and RCA, projects, and the delivery of new
technologies.
Role responsibilities
- Technology escalation point, mentoring and equipping the wider IT team to
effectively support the business and deliver technologies.
- Advocate for and champion best practices and proactive approaches.
- Work with all IS and business units to ensure that services and projects are
delivered as required.
- Develop a firm understanding and become a key contact for IT systems and
technologies.
- Ensure appropriate technical documentation and processes are available or created for the IT team.

Skills & Competencies

Experience supporting technical staff in a pro-active and personable manner.
- Ability to complete assigned or self-assigned tasks to time, with feedback and a
high standard without prompting.
- 5+ years’ experience supporting Microsoft environments including Microsoft
Azure, Windows operating systems, servers, and Microsoft SQL.
- Experience in a scripting language, preferably Windows PowerShell.
- The ability to create, maintain and distribute documentation.
- Experience of using helpdesk software within an environment following ITIL
guidelines, ensuring requests and changes are completed in a timely fashion.
- Hypervisors, use and troubleshooting experience, Hyper-V and VMWare.
- Windows AD, IIS, CA, NPS, EDR and Backup applications.
- TCP\IP and general networking including DNS, DHCP and S/FTP.
- 3+ years’ experience with Microsoft Office 365 administration.
- 3+ years’ experience with IAM related technologies e.g. SSO, MFA.
- 3+ years’ experience with platform security and devices e.g., E-mail\Spam
filters, Firewall and Wireless APs.
- Experience of remote management, MDM - Microsoft Intune, SCCM.
- Experience of incident management and can lead on service desk escalations.
- Ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple concurrent workstreams,
liaising effectively with other teams and business units where required.
- Experience liaising with vendors and researching new technologies.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- A Microsoft Windows (Server and/or Client) certification or relevant
demonstrable experience to cover required competencies.
- Non-entry level Microsoft Azure or AWS certification or have relevant
demonstrable experience.
- ITIL qualified or have relevant demonstrable practical experience.
Desirable
- Experience with Linux and container technologies.
- Experience with Polycomm and AV technologies.
- Experience with Fortigate VPNs and firewalls.
- Experience of multi-site networking and HA.
- Experience of one or more from FocalPoint, Uniflow, AWS, AKJ/Aurora Affinity
and Autotask.
- Experience of working in a regularly audited environment.
