Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Healthcare Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality support to individuals in care homes and home care settings, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be organised, and have a genuine desire to make a positive difference in people's lives. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop your skills within the healthcare sector while working in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Support residents with personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and continence needs.
Assist with household tasks such as laundry, light cleaning, and grocery shopping.
Prepare and serve meals, supporting residents who require help with eating and drinking.
Administer oral and topical medication under appropriate supervision.
Provide emotional reassurance and companionship, promoting wellbeing and confidence.
Encourage residents to remain as active and independent as possible in all aspects of daily living.
Help residents engage in meaningful activities, hobbies, and social or recreational opportunities.
Use initiative and creativity to help residents manage challenges related to memory loss or physical health.
Follow individual care plans covering mobility, communication, nutrition, and social interaction.
Support residents with mobility using appropriate equipment safely and responsibly (training provided).
Maintain a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment within the care home.
Keep accurate daily records of care, activities, and social engagement.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and family members to achieve the best outcomes for each resident.
Respect residents’ rights to privacy, dignity, choice, and confidentiality at all times.
Attend required training to maintain and develop skills relevant to the role.

Skills

Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
Good IT skills for maintaining accurate records and updating care plans using digital systems
Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in caring for others
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Experience working in a care home or home care environment is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided where necessary

Health and Safety Responsibilities

Follow all organisational health and safety policies and procedures.
Use equipment safely and correctly, reporting any concerns promptly.
Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Data Protection

Maintain strict confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and organisational policies.
Ensure information is obtained, stored, and shared lawfully and only with authorised individuals.
