Purpose of the Role:
To manage the daily operations of the bar and oversee the wider clubhouse facilities, ensuring a high standard of customer service, cleanliness, and member satisfaction. The role includes staff supervision, stock management, event coordination, and responsibility for the overall presentation and functionality of the clubhouse.
Key Responsibilities:
Bar Operations:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the bar, ensuring high levels of customer service and preparing the department/clubhouse for service.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and hygiene standards.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, order supplies, and conduct regular stock takes.
- Oversee cash handling procedures, including daily reconciliation and deposits.
- Develop and implement promotions and seasonal offerings in coordination with the General Manager/Club Operations Manager.
- Ensure the smooth service of food and beverage to members and guests maintaining high levels of service standards at all times.
Clubhouse Supervision:
- Take responsibility for the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of the clubhouse including bar, lounge, locker rooms, dining areas, and function rooms alongside the contract cleaner.
- Liaise with cleaning and maintenance contractors to ensure standards are met and issues are addressed promptly.
- Work with other departments (e.g., kitchen, golf operations) to ensure smooth clubhouse operations.
Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise bar and clubhouse staff.
- Create and manage staff rotas in line with business needs and budget.
- Ensure team members deliver excellent service, adhering to club standards and expectations.
- Ensure team members are trained and reviewed in expected service standards
- Lead by example, setting a professional tone and promoting a positive team environment.
Member & Guest Relations:
- Foster a welcoming and professional environment for members and guests.
- Handle complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
- Build relationships with members to understand and anticipate their needs.
Events & Functions:
- In conjunction with the Assistant General Manager coordinate and deliver clubhouse events such as tournaments, private functions, meetings and club social events.
- Work with the catering team to ensure seamless delivery of food and beverage services.
- Oversee setup, service, and clean-up of events.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in bar management or hospitality supervisory role.
- Knowledge of licensing laws, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and stock.
Desirable:
- Experience in a golf club, private members’ club, or similar environment.
- Personal licence holder.
- First aid training.
- Basic understanding of golf and golf club culture.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Flexibility essential based on event schedule and peak times (e.g. tournament days, club events).
