Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
The role:
We are looking for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Management team based in Cheltenham. Reporting directly to the Head of Facilities, who holds day‑to‑day responsibility for the FM Maintenance Team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our buildings, services, and grounds are maintained to a high standard.
You will be responsible for carrying out and supervising a wide range of building fabric, services, and grounds maintenance activities. Your work will help ensure a safe, efficient, and well‑presented environment for staff, visitors, and customers.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor, manage, and respond to facilities faults logged via the FM Helpdesk

Support the delivery of a safe and healthy working environment across all premises

Carry out repairs and maintenance to building fabric, services, fixtures, and grounds

Maintain site roads, paths, and car parks, including litter clearance and seasonal gritting, salting, and snow clearance

Undertake office moves, including packing and relocating furniture

Carry out painting and decorating works as required

Perform general landscaping duties, including mowing, weeding, pruning, and grounds maintenance

Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks, including testing, data recording, cleaning, and fire alarm testing

Proactively identify, report, and assist in resolving emerging maintenance issues

Oversee and manage external FM contractors, ensuring service standards and compliance with company EHS policies and procedures

Support facilities operations during emergencies or incident response

Manage small facilities projects as directed by the FM Site Manager

Carry out security duties, including site lock‑up, as required

Conduct daily inspections of buildings and grounds to identify, prioritise, and plan maintenance activities

Apply technical expertise and experience to deliver cost‑effective and business‑focused maintenance solutions
Essential Skills and Experience:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Clean, full UK driving licence

Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality, standards, and safety
