As our client base continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our friendly team and play an important role in supporting our clients.

The Role

We're looking for someone who enjoys bookkeeping, takes pride in getting the details right, and genuinely cares about providing great service to clients.

You'll manage your own portfolio of clients, working closely with them to maintain accurate financial records and ensure their bookkeeping is up to date. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of businesses and industries.

This role would suit someone who is confident carrying out day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, enjoys building client relationships, and wants to be part of a supportive and growing practice.

What You'll Be DoingBookkeeping

Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts and payments
Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
Reconciling bank, credit card and other balance sheet accounts
Processing journals and bookkeeping adjustments where required
Monitoring debtor and creditor balances and investigating discrepancies
Ensuring client records are accurate and up to date

VAT & Compliance

Preparing VAT returns
Ensuring bookkeeping records comply with HMRC and Making Tax Digital requirements
Maintaining complete and accurate supporting records
Assisting with preparation of information for year-end accounts

Reporting

Producing routine financial reports
Assisting with management account preparation
Supporting cashflow reporting and monitoring
Highlighting unusual transactions or issues where necessary

Client Support

Building strong relationships with clients
Responding to bookkeeping queries
Helping clients maintain good bookkeeping practices
Working alongside accountants and other advisers when required

Software

Working with cloud accounting systems including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent
Using software such as Dext and Hubdoc
Supporting clients with bookkeeping software queries
Encouraging efficient and effective bookkeeping processes

What We're Looking ForEssential

At least 2 years' bookkeeping experience
Good understanding of bookkeeping principles
Experience preparing VAT returns
Experience using cloud accounting software
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organisational skills
Good communication skills
Confidence working independently

Desirable

AAT, ICB or equivalent qualified or studying towards AAT
Previous experience working within industry, a bookkeeping or accountancy practice
Experience using Xero, QuickBooks or Sage
