About us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HGV Class 2 Driver to join our busy team at South West Galvanizers Ltd based in Crediton, EX17. We are part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, a successful family-owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 14 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanizing process.

What’s the role?
As an HGV Class 2 Driver you will help to deliver our Company’s mission being the ‘UK’s Galvanizer of choice’ through being an integral part of a fleet that delivers our high-quality products to our customers.

Main responsibilities include:

Putting safety first - Ensuring full compliance with all statutory requirements and driving legislation, including company procedures, tachograph monitoring, driver, and road regulations.
Collecting and delivering steelwork.
Maintaining good working relationships with customers.
Complete accurate delivery records and relevant paperwork.
Responsible for carrying out vehicle inspections.

Who would suit this role?

We’re looking for a motivated and reliable HGV Driver.

You will have a clean Class C licence, along with a digital tachograph card and a Driver CPC.

Previous experience transporting steel is desirable but not essential.

Your normal working days are Monday to Friday.

Hours?

Drivers working hours will be flexible to meet the needs of the business and will work up to a maximum of 60 hours per week but average no more than 48 hours per week in a 17-week period as per the Working Time Regulations. Start and finish times will be dictated by the needs of the business.
