Who are the Achieving Change Together Service?

The Barnardos Achieving Change Together Service provides an empowering holistic model of support for disabled children and their families, who live in Blaenau Gwent.

Service Aims

For parents / carers to feel more confident and equipped to meet the needs of their children.

For parents / carers to support their child/children to reach their full potential.
To work in partnership with other services and organisations in order to provide a holistic plan of support for the family.

Facilitate group work to promote skills development, confidence and independence.
To support and enable disabled children and their families to access mainstream, specialist and community resources that meets their needs.

What does the Job Role involve?

As a Family Support Worker (as and when), your duties will include:

Utilising effective communication skills to engage children and families to build collaborative relationships.

Providing direct support, to enable children and families to achieve their identified goals and outcomes.
Supporting groupwork programmes and community based activities.
Maintaining accurate recordings.

You will have:

Experience of working with children and their families.
Knowledge and understanding of disabilities and the importance of inclusion.
Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge and experience of safeguarding.

Ability to prioritise, organise, self-motivate and work on own initiative.
Ability to navigate IT systems and maintain accurate recordings.
