We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist and who has an interest in working in our HIV service; prior experience is wonderful, but not always essential as full training will be provided. Your existing clinical skills will be fully utilised supporting patients, where co-morbidity and polypharmacy will need to be considered alongside their HIV treatment.
We have a well-established multi-disciplinary HIV team including consultants, specialist nurses and pharmacy colleagues who have a broad range of skills and expertise.
Our Sexual Health service covers the Hampshire and Isle of Wight; we are a very busy, interesting, and innovative service. You will provide expert advice at a specialist level on HIV pharmaceutical matters for our service and will regularly provide training for our Sexual Health clinicians, patient groups and our organisational pharmacy staff. Based either at Bitterne Health Centre, Southampton or St Marys Hospital, Portsmouth. Travel to other sites will be required on an ad-hoc basis.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
To be a valued member of the HIV Multidisciplinary Team, providing specialist advice to the clinical team and other members of the organisation
To support patient adherence to HIV treatment, in association with the HIV Clinical Nurse Specialists & Specialist pharmacists.
To give patients information and support around starting and changing HIV treatment, helping to manage the side effects of treatment.
To provide pharmaceutical and medicines management information in relation to HIV/GUM and Sexual Health, within the service and the wider community organisation.
To clinically screen HIV/GUM prescriptions to ensure adherence to set prescribing guidelines and protocols and to monitor prescribing to ensure clinical safety, and compliance with legislation and local and national policy and guidance.
To support in the development of Patient Group Directives (PGDs) for Sexual Health and HIV/GUM.
To support training for clinical staff working under PGDs.
To promote the safe, effective, and economic use of medicines in line with the local formulary and national guidelines.
To support specialist pharmacists in providing reports on medicines utilisation and finances
To assist other healthcare professionals with advice on HIV and sexual health medication related issues.
To line manage HIV co-ordinators
Contributes to all aspects of clinical governance within the speciality including clinical risk and clinical audit
