Full job description

IPC Exeter is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Job Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic Activity Leaders to oversee our summer school programme for teenage English language learners. Our students are in Exeter for 2 weeks. They live with a host family, improve their English in school each week day morning and participate in our afternoon programme each week day afternoon and Saturday.

Activity Leaders are responsible for leading their team of up to 18 students in a programme of trips to beaches and towns, sports activities, tours and organised evening events. The aim of the AL is to engage students in their team and to use as much English as possible to explain everything. These are young language learners who need to hear English spoken and to use their English as much as possible. The programme comprises 4 afternoon activities and 2 evening activities per week and one day trip on the middle Saturday of each 2 week programme.

Duties:
- Organize and lead a variety of recreational activities and events.
- Work with a specific named group of young people with the aim of making yours the best team - explain everything carefully, speak English, encourage your team members to speak English
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.
- Maintain good order when facilitating all activities - eg good behaviour on coach travel
- Communicate effectively with participants, host families, and staff members.
- Assist in the setting up and breaking down of activities.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in leading activities or working with groups preferred.
- Experience of language school summer programmes useful.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Empathy for young foreign language learners
- Would suit enthusiastic University students/new graduates in the fields of English/Humanities/ Education/Modern Languages

Job Type: Zero hours contract

Pay: £10.00-£12.21 per hour

Education:

A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
