About Hartwell
Hartwell Manufacturing is a family-run engineering business with nearly 50 years of experience delivering high-quality acoustic enclosures and heavy steel fabrication projects. From our Ossett headquarters, we support clients in the power, data centre and industrial sectors with engineered solutions built on precision, collaboration and reliability. The culture is hands-on, team-focused and proud of the work we produce.
The Role
As demand continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Industrial Paint Sprayer to join our night shift team.
This is a hands-on spraying role working on large fabricated steel structures, acoustic enclosures and heavy industrial products. We are looking for someone who has already sprayed large-scale items in a production or engineering environment.
This role would suit someone with experience spraying large steel fabrications, commercial vehicle bodies, coach-built products, tipper bodies, box vans, trailers, plant equipment, agricultural machinery, structural steel or other large industrial components.
The scale of the work is important. This is not a small parts spraying role, decorative spraying role or general labouring position. We need someone who understands industrial coatings, large surfaces, coating thickness, preparation standards and working at pace in a production-led environment.
The role reports to the Paint Supervisor and operates on a Monday to Thursday night shift pattern, working 12-hour shifts, with overtime available on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing and spraying large steel structures and fabricated components to customer specifications
Applying industrial coatings to the required finish and coating thickness
Using airless, air-assisted airless spray pumps and conventional pressure pot spray guns
Working with two-pack paint systems, including epoxy primers
Mixing and preparing paints accurately prior to application
Spraying large-scale items such as enclosures, fabrications, frames, bodies or similar industrial products
Checking surface preparation and coating quality throughout the process
Working efficiently to support production schedules and deadlines
Maintaining strong health and safety standards at all times
Keeping the paint area clean, organised and safe
Working independently where required, while supporting the wider paint team
Working at height and, where required, in confined spaces
Completing a spray test as part of the recruitment process
