Care manager
Reports to: Registered Manager
Overview
The Care Manager will support the Registered Manager in ensuring that the service operates in full compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, CQC Fundamental Standards, and all other relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice.
The role focuses on quality assurance, compliance monitoring, staff development, and client care oversight, ensuring that people receive safe, effective, person-centred, and high-quality care at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure the individual receives the highest quality of support in line with the values of Magnus Care LTD the Care Manager will be employed:
1. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
o Support the Registered Manager to maintain CQC compliance, inspection readiness, and adherence to all relevant legislation and best practice guidance.
2. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
o Lead internal monitoring, audits, and quality improvement activity to ensure high standards of care and service delivery.
3. Client Assessment & Care Planning
o Ensure effective assessment, care planning, and ongoing review of care and support arrangements for all service users.
4. Staff Support, Training & Development
o Support the recruitment, induction, supervision, training, and ongoing development of staff to ensure competence and compliance.
5. Operational & On-Call Support
o Provide day-to-day operational support to the service, including participation in the on-call/out-of-hours rota.
6. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
o Maintain effective communication with staff, service users, families, commissioners, and external professionals.
Key Duties
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Support the Registered Manager in maintaining compliance with CQC regulations and Fundamental Standards.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of statutory notifications and regulatory reports.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, guidance, and sector best practice.
- Promote an open culture within the service and work to enhance working relationships within the team to facilitate the smooth running of the service.
- Liaise professionally with CQC inspectors, local authorities, safeguarding teams, and commissioners.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance systems and action plans.
- Review incidents, complaints, accidents, and safeguarding concerns, ensuring learning and appropriate escalation.
- Analyse service data and prepare quality and compliance reports for senior management.
- Support continuous improvement through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Client Assessment & Care Planning
- Carry out comprehensive assessments for new clients, including risk assessments.
- Review and update care plans, support plans, and risk assessments regularly.
- Ensure care documentation is accurate, person-centred, confidential, and up to date.
- Monitor service user satisfaction and care outcomes.
- Work with Care Coordinators to ensure effective staff allocation and continuity of care.
- Escalate safeguarding or serious concerns to the Registered Manager or Director without delay.
Staff Support, Training & Development
- Support recruitment, induction, and onboarding of new staff in collaboration with management and HR.
- Identify training needs through supervision, audits, incidents, and service requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records and compliance matrices.
- Ensure that there are sufficient numbers of staff who are suitably trained and skilled.
- Participate in staff inductions, competency assessments, spot checks, and observations.
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to Care Workers.
- Work with the Registered Manager to implement staff development plans.
Operational & On-Call Support
- Provide operational support to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- Participate in the on-call/out-of-hours rota in line with organisational policy.
- Support problem-solving and proactive, person-centred risk management approaches.
- Ensure concerns impacting service delivery are addressed promptly and escalated appropriately.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective internal communication systems (handover notes, diaries, communication logs).
- Support effective external communication with families, commissioners, and health professionals.
- Promote positive working relationships across the care team.
About You:
· Strong knowledge of CQC standards, regulations, and inspection processes.
· Experience in compliance, audit, or governance within health and social care.
· Knowledge of internal/external audit processes, risk management, and safety standards.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills; able to influence and support diverse teams.
· Confident in presenting audit findings and recommendations to management.
· Decisive, solutions-focused, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
This role is responsible for carrying out internal audits, monitoring client care quality, supporting Care Workers in the field, and ensuring that all services meet and exceed CQC requirements. The postholder will play a vital role in ensuring Magnus Care delivers safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led services to support our GOOD Rating
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Level 4 or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards).
- Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent practical experience.
- Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
- Training in safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management.
- Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Willingness to undertake further training as required for the role.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
