Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our care home team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the well-being of our residents, supervising care staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. This position offers an opportunity to lead by example, utilise your leadership skills, and make a positive difference in the lives of older adults. The role involves providing personalised care, assisting with daily activities, and contributing to a warm, respectful environment for residents. A valid driving licence is desirable to support mobility needs within the community.

Duties

Supervise and support care staff to ensure the delivery of compassionate, person-centred care in accordance with individual care plans
Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and mobility, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
Develop and review personalised care plans in collaboration with residents and their families
Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns to healthcare professionals promptly
Lead by example in maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and infection control within the care home
Support residents with social activities and encourage engagement to promote mental and emotional well-being
Assist with administrative tasks using IT systems for record keeping and communication purposes
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to ensure clear understanding of needs and preferences
Provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering a positive team environment

Qualifications

Previous experience working in a senior care or similar setting is highly desirable
Supervising experience within a care home environment is essential
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members effectively
Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
Knowledge of care plans and ability to implement them effectively
Good IT skills for documentation and communication purposes
Valid driving licence is preferred to assist with community outings or errands related to resident care
Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in supporting older adults’ independence and quality of life

Pay: £13.11 per hour
