Assistant Project Manager

BUSINESS FUNCTION: Programmes
SALARY: £39,052 - £46,250
ROLE TYPE: Hybrid (approx. 3 days in the office)

CONTRACT: Permanent
LOCATION: Manchester – with requirement to travel
HOURS: 35 per week

Join Northern as an Assistant Project Manager – a key support role where you’ll help keep projects running smoothly, coordinate teams and tasks, and build the hands-on experience needed to grow into a future Project Manager.

This is a fast-paced, varied role that’s perfect for someone eager to learn, collaborate, and develop core project delivery skills in a supportive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Managing and maintaining key project documentation – including meeting minutes, file structures, and update logs

Assisting with project reporting, including tracking progress against timeframes and budgets

Supporting Project Managers with day-to-day coordination, administrative tasks, and communications across teams and contractors

Acting as a go-to point of contact for general project support

Taking ownership of small projects or specific workstreams to apply and grow your skills

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to structure your time effectively

A proactive, positive attitude and a genuine desire to learn and develop

Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel

Great communication skills and a team-first approach

No previous project management experience required – just a passion for making things happen and an interest in infrastructure delivery
