You’ll join OCU’s Regulated Power division as part of a growing overhead lines team delivering essential network infrastructure across the SSEN New Connections framework. Covering the M4 corridor from the M25 through to Bath, you’ll play a key role in strengthening and expanding electricity networks that support homes, businesses and the wider energy transition.
This is an opportunity to take on a hands-on leadership role within a busy and safety-critical environment, where your experience and authorisations will be valued and further developed through ongoing training and exposure to a wide range of projects.
You’ll carry out a wide range of overhead line activities, including the construction of new networks, upgrading existing infrastructure and dismantling assets to support underground cabling projects. Working across LV, 11kV and 33kV systems, you’ll help ensure the safe and efficient delivery of works to the required quality and specification standards.
You’ll take responsibility for maintaining a strong safety-first approach, not only for your own work but also supporting and influencing colleagues on site. As part of your role, you’ll contribute to building a positive safety culture, ensuring all operational activities are carried out in line with company and regulatory requirements.
You’ll also be responsible for completing relevant documentation and updating digital works management systems, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of progress and activities on site.
Essential:
- Current SSEN operational authorisations
- Proven experience working on overhead lines across multiple voltage levels
- Strong understanding of safety requirements within OHL operations
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to manage workload and deliver work to agreed standards
- High attention to detail
Desirable:
- NRSWA accreditations
- Experience working on new connections projects
- Interest in further developing authorisations and technical skills
