Full job description

Scarpetta Cucina Italiana is a new independent, family run restaurant on George Street in Edinburgh.

We are currently looking for an experienced Commis Chef to join our hard working and enthusiastic team.

Must be hard working and reliable with a can do attitude.

Able to work at a fast pace and can work under pressure.

A willingness to be part of a small hard working team to help carry out the day to day duties given by the head chef.

Must be clean and organized at all times.

The role:

You’ll work primarily across prep during the day, building your knowledge of our kitchen and menus. As you settle in, you’ll take on a wider role supporting the team during service. It’s a genuine opportunity to develop your skills in a busy, professional kitchen under experienced chefs.

What we are looking for:

Some previous kitchen experience whether in a professional kitchen or equivelant.
A genuine interest in food and a willingness to learn
Reliable, hard-working and able to work as part of a team
Comfortable working across a varied weekly rota including weekends

Responsibilities for the role include:

maintaining cleaning standards
maintaining due diligence records
Serving food in a fast paced high pressure environment
Keeping kitchen clean and tidy
Assisting with prep and service
Ensuring food safety protocols are followed

What we offer;

The rate of pay will start from £13.

around 30-35 hours per week

staff meals on shift

Further to benefits included with the role we also provide the following for staff members:

TRONC tips structure (12% service charge added to every table with 100% going to the staff, split between roles with tronc averaging approximately £3-4/hr for your job role).
20% discount in our sister venue Elio’s.
