Full job description

We are looking for a calm, confident and compassionate Reception Security Assistant at Mill View Hospital . This is a key front‑line role, helping us maintain a safe, welcoming and well‑managed environment for patients, visitors and staff.

We are looking for someone who is confident working in a mental health environment and able to communicate clearly and calmly, even in high‑pressure situations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy and professionalism when managing challenging circumstances, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and show reliability, strong observational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive service.

Provide a warm, professional welcome to all visitors

Monitor and control access to the hospital to ensure safety

Support incident response and liaise with clinical teams

Manage visitor sign‑in processes and ID checks

Key and Alarm management

Perform daily and weekly routine security checks

Manage incoming calls, post and parcels

Perform administrative tasks relevant to the role

Maintain a visible presence to reassure patients and staff

Follow security procedures and escalate concerns appropriately

Whilst playing a vital role in safeguarding our hospital community and supporting meaningful care for people during their recovery, you will benefit from comprehensive training and learning opportunities, regular supervision and appraisal, and access to a range of wellbeing resources to support you in this role
