Healthcare Assistant (May 2026) - Sponsorship is not available

South Care Homes is a well-established, family run company with 2 nursing homes and our own nursing agency located in Eastbourne. Our philosophy is to create a secure, relaxed, happy and homely atmosphere for the residents to live in and for the staff to work in. We specialise in providing quality nursing and residential care for the elderly. Both homes have a CQC rating of Good. We provide care for over 18s with varying degrees of residential nursing needs.

We currently have vacancies at Manor Hall Nursing Home for Health Care Assistants to join our day and our night teams. You will need to have a proven track record of providing excellent care with recent experience. An interest or experience in the field of /dementia care would be beneficial but not essential. If you have experience as a carer and are looking for an opportunity to provide excellent care, we want you.

Day and night HCA part time hours are available up to £13 per hour. Shift patterns as agreed with the home manager.

Salary: Up to £13 per hour

If 30 hours or under we will pay £13 per hour.

If over 30 hours then the pay will be at £12.71 per hour.

Shifts:

Long Day - 7am to 8pm

Early - 7am - 2pm

§ Late - 2pm - 8pm

§ Night - 8pm to 8am

Job Overview:

To provide person centred care in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements, reflecting policies and procedures and agreed standards under the direction of the Senior Carer/Nurse
To support and enable service users to maintain skills and personal interests while delivering person-centred care unique to each individual
To maintain skills at a current level and undertake such training and development as required, from time-to-time, to maintain and progress knowledge
To work as part of a team

Role-specific Duties:

The Carers responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Ensure that residents are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences are taken into consideration to enhance their wellbeing
To contribute to the efficient running of the service
Support service users to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community
Ensure care plans and other information about how to support service users are followed
Be responsible for informing the Senior Carer/Nurse of any changes in the needs of service users
Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals they support.

Personal and Professional Development:

Have a knowledge of, and work within, the Fundamental Standards
Understand the regulatory framework that governs the service, including the role of the CQC and its requirements
Commit to achieving the relevant qualifications commensurate with the role
Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management
Understand and follow all policies and procedures relevant to the role
Be open to learning opportunities
