Full job description

Experienced Artisan Baker – Immediate Start

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Artisan Baker to join our small, dedicated team in the historic hillside town of Malmesbury. Our expanding business operates from a well‑established 17th‑century high‑street bakery, where all of our products are crafted on-site. The shop is the heart of everything we do.

You will work closely alongside the Head Baker/Owner, contributing to a high‑quality, traditional baking operation.

Position Details

Full-time: 4 days per week (35–45 hours)
Days off: Sunday , Monday, Tuesday
Shift pattern: Typically 02:00–11:00
Start date: Immediate

Essential Skills & Experience

Minimum 2 years’ professional baking experience
Strong knowledge of sourdough, fermentation, yeasted breads, confectionery, and pastry
Ability to work independently, efficiently, and to a high standard
A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine enjoyment of teamwork
Reliability and consistency in both attendance and performance
Creativity and willingness to contribute new ideas
Pastry production experience is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

Produce high‑quality, handcrafted breads and pastries using traditional methods
Mix, shape, proof, and bake dough to achieve excellent flavour and appearance
Maintain consistent quality standards and meet production deadlines
Ensure the bakery remains clean, safe, and well‑organised in line with hygiene regulations
Manage ingredients, stock rotation, and inventory
Collaborate with the team to meet targets and improve processes
Troubleshoot production or equipment issues as needed
