Chef de Partie – Join the Kitchen Team at Black Ivy

We are looking for a passionate, professional and driven Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team at Black Ivy — one of Edinburgh’s most vibrant independent hospitality venues.

Known for delivering “Local Luxury” to our guests, Black Ivy combines a buzzing bar and restaurant, boutique bedrooms, private events and an energetic atmosphere in the heart of Bruntsfield. Our kitchen is fast-paced, quality-focused and built around teamwork, consistency and high standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented chef who thrives under pressure, takes pride in their work and is looking to develop within an ambitious and growing hospitality business.

The Role

As Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for running your section effectively during service while supporting the senior kitchen team in delivering exceptional food quality and consistency.

You will play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety, and helping deliver an outstanding guest experience every service.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook dishes to the exact specifications of the Head Chef and Sous Chefs
Manage and maintain your section during busy service periods
Ensure consistency, presentation and quality across every dish
Assist with daily prep, stock rotation and kitchen organisation
Work efficiently as part of a high-performing kitchen team
Maintain excellent hygiene and food safety standards at all times
Support junior chefs and contribute positively to team culture
Help drive speed of service without compromising quality

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 1 year’s experience working in a professional kitchen environment
Previous experience as a Line Cook or Chef de Partie preferred
A strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability to stay calm, organised and efficient in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Passion for fresh food and hospitality
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and develop
Reliability, punctuality and attention to detail are essential
