About the Role

Trust-Care Staffing is looking for an experienced, organised and compassionate Team Manager to take dedicated responsibility for the development and day-to-day management of an individual Care at Home service in Edinburgh.

This is a position dedicated to supporting a team, with a clear objective of strengthening the team, improving consistency and quality, and establishing a stable and sustainable service.

You will work closely with the people we support, family, the Trust-Care Registered Manager and other health and social care professionals.

This is very much a hands-on management role. We are looking for someone who can build relationships, recruit and develop the right staff, establish strong team working and ensure consistently high standards of care, communication and record keeping.

Your Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Team Building

A major initial priority will be establishing a strong and sustainable staff team.

You will:

Take an active role in recruiting suitable staff specifically for the service.
Participate in interviews and candidate selection.
Coordinate induction, shadow shifts and competency development.
Ensure new staff understand individual's needs, routines, preferences and communication.
Build a consistent, reliable and positive staff team.
Identify staffing gaps and work proactively to maintain appropriate coverage.
Support staff development through coaching, supervision and regular feedback.
Promote strong communication and accountability across the team.

Training & Staff Development

You will ensure the team has the knowledge and confidence required to provide safe and person-centred support.

This will include:

Identifying individual and team training needs.
Ensuring mandatory and service-specific training remains current.
Supporting competency assessments where required.
Providing coaching and additional support where practice needs to improve.
Ensuring learning from incidents, observations and reviews is shared across the team.

Team Meetings & Family Communication

Regular and effective communication will be central to the role.

You will:

Arrange and chair regular team meetings.
Ensure individual’s family are appropriately involved in these meetings.
Prepare agendas and ensure meetings remain focused on improving the person's support.
Produce clear and accurate minutes.
Record agreed actions, responsibilities and timescales.
Follow up actions to ensure they are completed.
Maintain regular communication with families, Registered Manager and wider professional team.

Quality of Care & Record Keeping

You will take responsibility for monitoring the quality and consistency of the support being delivered.

This will include:

Regularly reviewing the content and quality of staff's written records.
Ensuring daily notes are meaningful, accurate and person-centred.
Monitoring medication documentation and associated records.
Reviewing incident and accident records.
Monitoring whether staff are following the person's Support Plan and Risk Assessments.
Carrying out observations of staff practice and spot checks.
Identifying areas requiring improvement and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
Ensuring actions and learning are documented and followed through.

Care Planning & Review

Working with the Registered Manager, family and wider professional team, you will contribute to the ongoing review and development of the person's support.

You will:

Ensure the Support Plan accurately reflects the person's current needs, preferences, routines and desired outcomes.
Monitor and contribute to Risk Assessment reviews.
Ensure changes in needs or circumstances are identified and appropriately recorded.
Ensure individual's voice and the views of family are reflected within care planning.
Monitor progress against agreed outcomes.
Maintain clear evidence of improvements made throughout.
Work towards and help coordinate individual's Personal Care Review, ensuring the service is able to demonstrate progress and improvement.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of this service and provide visible leadership to the team.

Ideally, you will have:

Significant experience within Care at Home, supported living or social care.
Previous Team Leader, Deputy Manager or Service Manager experience.
Experience recruiting and developing care teams.
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Experience conducting supervision and staff development.
Confidence chairing meetings and producing clear minutes and action plans.
Excellent written communication and record-keeping skills.
Experience monitoring care documentation and staff practice.
A good understanding of person-centred support planning and risk assessment.
Knowledge of medication management and safe care practice.
Confidence working collaboratively with families and health and social care professionals.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
An appropriate SVQ qualification
Ability to meet relevant SSSC registration requirements.

Experience supporting people with epilepsy, complex needs, mobility difficulties or communication needs would be particularly advantageous.
