Activities Coordinator

Part time: 21 hours per week across 4 or 5 days

Salary: £27,000-£30,000 FTE depending on qualifications and experience

Location: Office based at Bridgehead House, Barnett Wood Lane, Lower Ashtead, Surrey, KT21 2DF with travel across the whole of Surrey when required

Contract basis: 1 year fixed term contract

Are you looking for a flexible role that includes direct work with children, young people and families, as well as service development?

This is an exciting opportunity to be instrumental in developing new services and support for, and with, children and young people who are Deaf, hard of hearing or vision impaired working in collaboration with other organisations to support their work.

The post is initially for one year with a view to extending the contract to a permanent position subject to available funding.

We are a well-established and impactful charity working with children, young people and adults of all ages. Our Children and Young People’s Service offers a wide range of services and support to children who are vision impaired or have a multi-sensory impairment and their families. We are looking to expand this to our Deaf or hard of hearing community where gaps in provision are identified.

This role will have two main areas of focus:

· Providing information and support for Deaf or hard of hearing children, with a view to engaging them in activities and events. We would like to engage and liaise with established providers to add value to what is already on offer. You would work with the Head of Service to develop this provision.

· Providing recreation activities for children and young people who have significant vision impairment. Your focus would be to plan, coordinate, attend and follow up the “Family” activities for children and young people aged 0-19, including parents, carers and siblings. Activities can be varied for example arts & craft, sports, adventure, cooking, etc. We encourage the young people, as appropriate, to have input into the choice of activities undertaken. Many of the children accessing our services have complex needs and disabilities we need to ensure that a balanced selection of our activities meet these children’s needs.
