Full job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our growing team based in Huddersfield. This role is ideal for someone with a strong electrical background and proven experience in electrical contracting sector. You will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting project delivery, and ensuring competitive tender submissions in order to win new contracts throughout the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs.
Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
Analyse project requirements and identify potential risks and opportunities.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and requirements.
Support the preparation and submission of tenders and proposals.
Maintain accurate records of estimates and pricing data to determine trends in pricing and take into account trends in the industry.
Assist in value engineering exercises to optimise project costs.
Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and pricing trends.
Keen attention to compliance as some sites can be classed as having stringent compliance policies in place.
Responsibilities may not be limited to the above and are subject to change.

Job Requirements:

Strong electrical background (relevant electrical engineering experience essential).
Previous experience in an estimating role within electrical contracting.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications to produce Bom’s.
Commercial awareness and strong numerical skills.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

Experience with large-scale industrial or commercial projects.
Knowledge of current UK electrical regulations (e.g. BS 7671).
Familiarity with project management processes and cost control.
