We are looking for an Automotive Welder / Fabricator to support our growing automotive restoration and preservation work.
This is initially a contractor position, with the potential to become more regular or full-time as the business continues to expand.
The role would suit either:
- Someone with competent MIG welding experience who wants to develop properly within automotive restoration,
- or someone more experienced who can take ownership of welding and fabrication projects from start to finish.
You do not need to be a fully experienced panel beater or bodyshop technician, but you must be confident using welding equipment, careful in your approach and genuinely interested in learning the correct way to repair and preserve vehicles.
For the right person, training and guidance will be available from an experienced automotive welder who has worked extensively on classic cars and understands how repairs should be carried out, finished and prepared to the right standard.
The role will include
- Carrying out automotive welding and fabrication work
- Cutting out corrosion and preparing areas properly for repair
- Repairing rusted or damaged sections of vehicle bodywork and structure
- Making, shaping or fitting repair sections where required
- Working on classic, performance and preservation-focused vehicles
- Supporting wider restoration and underbody preservation projects
- Ensuring repairs are strong, neat and finished to the correct standard
- Working carefully around existing vehicle structures, coatings and components
- Keeping your work area clean, organised and safe
- Working with the wider team to complete projects properly
The ideal person will be
- Confident with MIG welding
- Experienced or qualified in welding, fabrication, vehicle repair or a similar practical trade
- Interested in cars, restoration, preservation or classic vehicles
- Careful, reliable and willing to work to a high standard
- Willing to learn and improve their technique
- Comfortable working independently once shown what is required
- Able to follow instructions and communicate clearly with the team
- Organised and able to take care of the tools, materials and workspace around them
- In possession of a valid driving licence
Experience level
We are open to different levels of experience.
For someone earlier in their welding career, this could be a great opportunity to learn proper automotive restoration methods from an experienced welder and develop your skills in a specialist environment.
For someone more experienced, the role can involve taking ownership of individual projects, organising the work required and getting repairs completed to a strong, professional standard.
Pay
£17–£23 per hour, depending on experience, ability and the level of responsibility you can take on.
